How do I choose the right ski jacket?
When choosing your ski jacket, look for one that is waterproof (minimum water column indicator of 10,000 mm), breathable and insulating. Make sure it also has practical features such as zipped pockets, an adjustable hood and underarm vents for better temperature regulation.
How do you know if a pair of ski trousers is waterproof enough?
Check the waterproof rating, measured in millimetres (mm). Trousers with a rating of at least 10,000 mm are considered waterproof and will protect you from snow and damp. If you're skiing in wet or powdery conditions, opt for a higher waterproof rating (15,000 mm or more).
What's the difference between a softshell jacket and a classic ski jacket?
A softshell jacket is lighter and more breathable, ideal for intense activities or moderate weather. It is windproof but generally not as waterproof as a classic ski jacket, which is designed to withstand more extreme winter conditions (snow, strong winds, rain).
Do I need to wear thermal underwear under my ski suit?
Yes, thermal underwear is essential for staying warm and dry. They wick away perspiration while maintaining body heat, especially in mid-layers under your ski jacket and trousers.
