Discover the Schöffel brand

Schöffel is a German brand of mountain and outdoor sports clothing and equipment founded in 1804 in Schwabmünchen, Bavaria. Georg Schöffel started out there as a traveling salesman, selling stockings, socks, and nightcaps. Later, the traveling merchants settled down and established their textile business in Schwabmünchen.

Did you know?

As early as 1983, Schöffel was one of the first European brands to incorporate Gore-Tex into its mountain clothing, and remains today one of the most loyal long-standing partners of the famous manufacturer of waterproof and breathable membranes.

It was Hubert Schöffel who identified a major trend in the late 1960s: he launched a line of hiking apparel and invested in the construction of a new factory, a decision that would have a lasting impact on the company’s future.

Today, the family-owned business is led by Peter Schöffel, representing the seventh generation, and is among the German market leaders in the field of functional sportswear.

Product Development and Innovations at Schöffel

Starting in 1983, Schöffel made a name for itself through the innovative development of Gore-Tex products, becoming one of the few major clothing companies in Germany to have its own in-house development facilities.

The brand also developed its own proprietary laminate, Venturi, used in many ski pants and outdoor garments: waterproof, breathable, and durable, it has become one of the brand’s technical hallmarks.

More recently, Schöffel has incorporated S.Café technology into its collections, which uses recycled coffee grounds to neutralize odors and improve breathability, as well as Airmem, a lightweight insulating material known for its breathability and weather resistance.

Since 2009, Schöffel has supplied equipment to the Austrian Ski Federation teams and has been an official partner of the Austrian Olympic Committee.

Schöffel products

The Schöffel range covers the full spectrum of outdoor apparel: hiking pants, fleeces and softshells, ski jackets, cycling clothes, and more.

The brand structures its collection around four main activity categories: hiking and trekking, alpine skiing and ski touring, cycling, and sportswear. For each season, Schöffel designs its collections based on the principle of layering—base layer, mid-layer, and outer layer—allowing every athlete to create a fully customized outfit tailored to the conditions.

Schöffel’s commitment to sustainability

Schöffel implements a comprehensive sustainable development strategy that spans the entire production chain: bluesign® certification to ensure low-pollution production, increasing use of recycled fibers to reduce its ecological footprint, and a Service Factory dedicated to repairing damaged products to extend their lifespan.

This Service Factory, located at the Bavarian headquarters, brings together a team of seamstresses dedicated to repairing worn items. By using original materials and through these customized alterations, Schöffel actively promotes the fight against overconsumption.
