Insulation and Hybrid Construction of the Schoffel DOWN JACKET STYLE CASCATA WMS

At the heart of this down jacket is a 90/10 down fill with a fill power of 800 cuin—a level of insulation that maintains consistent warmth even in sub-zero temperatures. Where down alone may reach its limits when exposed to moisture or repeated friction, the hybrid construction takes over: 60 grams of PrimaLoft® Black padding, made from 100% recycled polyester, is integrated into the shoulders, hood, and sleeves. These areas, which are more exposed to wind and contact with a backpack, thus benefit from more robust insulation and better resistance to moisture. The seamless design on the shoulders and sides eliminates the pressure points typically caused by traditional seams—a detail that’s especially appreciated during long outings with a backpack.

An outer fabric designed for winter conditions

The 100% polyamide shell features a windproof and water-repellent treatment that wards off light spray and gusts without adding weight to the jacket. The 100% recycled nylon lining contributes to the jacket’s smooth, comfortable fit, while the elastic cuffs and adjustable hem allow you to tailor the fit to current conditions. The hood, featuring an elastic hem and one-handed volume adjustment, is designed to be helmet-compatible—a useful feature in challenging terrain. The hiking jacket packs down easily into one of its pockets for space-saving storage in a backpack.

Practical Details and Material Commitments

Weighing 381 grams with a back length of 64 cm, the CASCATA WMS remains lightweight given its level of insulation. It features two zippered exterior pockets and two large interior pockets for organizing essentials. The jacket is Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) certified, attesting to worker-friendly manufacturing conditions. The recycled materials used for the lining and synthetic padding are part of an effort to reduce environmental impact. Available in Black in sizes 36 through 46, it is part of the brand’s 2027 winter collection.
