Designed for women who face changing winter conditions, the Schöffel 2L Jacket Style Refoca WMN combines high-performance waterproofing with targeted thermal insulation in a jacket designed for hiking in demanding conditions. Its 2-layer Dermizax®EV membrane and PrimaLoft® Evolve insulation make it a garment capable of simultaneously meeting the demands of protection, breathability, and freedom of movement.
The 2L Jacket Style Refoca WMN in Winter Conditions
The Dermizax®EV membrane, laminated in two layers onto the polyamide outer fabric, guarantees a water column rating of 20,000 mm and an MVTR breathability rating of 20,000 g/m²/24h. These two values reflect the jacket’s ability to block precipitation while effectively wicking away water vapor produced by physical activity, thereby limiting moisture buildup inside the jacket. Fully waterproof seams reinforce this protection throughout the entire garment, leaving no weak points for water to seep through.
Targeted Thermal Insulation and Heat Management During Exercise
PrimaLoft® Evolve insulation is strategically placed in areas with high heat demand, rather than distributed evenly. This approach retains heat where it’s needed without adding weight or stiffness to areas subjected to movement. The fabric’s two-way stretch enhances this design by allowing for a wide range of motion, which is particularly useful during sustained ascents or on technical terrain. During periods of intense exertion, the underarm ventilation zippers allow excess heat to be quickly released without having to remove the jacket.
Ergonomics and practicality for everyday use in the field
The adjustable hood features a chin guard that reduces chafing in high winds. The cuffs, adjustable with Velcro closures, allow for a precise fit to prevent drafts. The pocket layout is designed for active use: two zippered front pockets, a zippered chest pocket, and interior pockets ensure quick access to essentials without interfering with wearing a backpack. Weighing 482 g (base size), the jacket remains lightweight for a model that incorporates both a technical membrane and synthetic insulation.
