Killtec: The Brand’s Origins and History

In 1981, Günther Killer began designing his own athletic shoes before quickly expanding his business into outdoor apparel. Thanks to his deep product expertise, close relationships with customers, and above all, a genuine passion for his craft, he managed within just a few years to establish himself among the industry’s leading players and make Killtec a must-have brand in the world of sports.

Today, the company is led by his sons, Marcus and Sven, representing the second generation of the family. The brand now collaborates with nearly 3,500 retail partners, primarily specialty stores, across 35 countries worldwide.

Did you know?

Killtec has remained a family-owned business since its inception. More than 40 years after its founding by Günther Killer, his sons, Marcus and Sven Killer, still lead the brand and carry on the company’s family spirit.

Product Development and Innovations at Killtec

Alpine skiing and outdoor gear are at the heart of Killtec’s business, with particular attention paid to functional details: heat-sealed seams, waterproof zippers, removable hoods, non-slip snow guards, ventilation, adjustable cuffs, and ski-access pockets are all features found in the collections.

Since 2019, Killtec has stopped using PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in its water-repellent treatments. The brand now uses the Teflon EcoElite™ finish from Chemours Company, made from 60% renewable plant-based raw materials. This treatment is biodegradable, GMO-free, and offers up to three times the durability of other non-fluorinated finishes. It also allows for 25% faster drying and washing at low temperatures.

Furthermore, since 2021, Killtec has been GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified, the global standard for the processing of organic fibers, which covers the entire textile supply chain according to environmental and social criteria.

Products offered by the Killtec brand

Killtec offers a range of technical apparel for skiing and outdoor activities, available for women, men, and children: ski jackets, ski pants, fleeces and softshell jackets, hiking jackets, sportswear jackets…

Each piece stands out for its meticulous craftsmanship and excellent value for money, with an increasing proportion of recycled materials (polyester made from PET bottles) incorporated into the collections.

Killtec’s Eco-Responsible Commitment

Sustainability is a cornerstone of Killtec’s approach, summed up by the motto “Support the Planet.” The brand is gradually incorporating recycled materials into its collections, notably polyester made from recycled PET bottles, and is also expanding its use of organic cotton. It does not use real fur.

The phase-out of PFAS starting in 2019 in favor of Teflon EcoElite™ (a bio-based, biodegradable treatment with a reduced carbon footprint) illustrates this commitment to balancing technical performance with environmental responsibility. The GOTS certification obtained in 2021 further reinforces this commitment to sustainability by certifying compliance with strict environmental and social criteria throughout the entire production chain.
