Salomon GENESIS MID GTX Men’s Hiking Boots for Dynamic Hiking

The Salomon GENESIS MID GTX men’s hiking boots are designed for hikers who enjoy exploring varied trails with a trail-running-inspired stride. The mid-cut design provides extra support around the ankle, which is especially helpful on uneven trails. The standard width ensures a classic fit without feeling too tight or too loose. With an 8 mm heel-to-toe drop, a forefoot sole height of 31 mm, and a heel height of 39 mm, these shoes feature a sole profile that supports walking on hilly terrain while remaining true to the design principles of athletic footwear. Weighing approximately 397 g per shoe, they remain relatively lightweight for a hiking shoe, which helps maintain a dynamic feel during hours of walking.

Protection from the Elements and Walking Comfort

For hikes in wet or changeable conditions, the inclusion of a GORE-TEX membrane is a major advantage, as it provides waterproofing designed to keep feet dry while allowing sweat to escape. The upper, which combines synthetic and textile materials, helps create a lightweight fit around the foot, and the textile lining enhances the soft feel inside the shoe. The optiFOAM™ midsole, made of EVA foam, is designed for shock absorption, which can reduce fatigue on long hikes and make each step more comfortable on rocky or compact trails. The combination of these features makes this a shoe designed for active days outdoors where protection and walking comfort are top priorities.

Stability and Traction for Varied Terrain

The activeCHASSIS™ technology integrated into these shoes is designed to stabilize the foot and improve guidance while walking, especially when the terrain becomes uneven or the load on the backpack increases. This structure works in tandem with the All-Terrain Contagrip® outsole, designed to provide traction on a wide range of surfaces—whether wet, dry, hard, or loose. The rubber outsole is specifically engineered for outdoor use, helping to ensure secure footing on both ascents and descents. To round out the package, the Quicklace™ lacing system provides even compression around the foot and a quick adjustment, which is useful when you need to adjust the fit based on the terrain or the duration of your hike.
