Its adjustable outer cuff and thermoformable liner make it a model particularly well-suited for growing feet, offering comfort and support right from the very first outings.
The Rossignol COMP J: an introduction to Nordic skiing designed for juniors
The movable outer cuff, known as the “free-hinge cuff,” allows for forward and backward freedom of movement while maintaining sufficient torsional stiffness to guide the foot on the ski. This flexible design is particularly well-suited for beginners, who need a responsive boot without excessive stiffness. The closure system combines a Velcro strap, a metal hook, and traditional laces, allowing for easy entry and a precise fit—even for children who put on their boots by themselves.
A thermoformable liner for a custom fit
The anatomically shaped liner with a thermoformable fit (Thermo Adjustable Fit) allows the boot’s volume to be adjusted to the shape of the foot. In practical terms, this means the boot better conforms to the shape of the child’s foot, reducing pressure points and improving the gliding experience. The polyester lining ensures thermal comfort during winter outings, while the 3D plastic heel counter stabilizes the foot at the back and minimizes unwanted movement.
A sole designed for walking and precision on skis
The contoured Sport Sole outsole features Tech Grip technology, which improves traction when walking, particularly in the start and finish areas. This design facilitates the transition between walking and skiing, a tangible benefit for young skiers who aren’t standing still between runs on skis. The boot is compatible with NNN bindings, the most widely used standard in Nordic cross-country skiing.
The Rossignol COMP J is available in sizes 30 through 35 in this junior version, making it a solid choice to support children during their first seasons of Nordic skiing.
