Zag SLAP 92 Skis

The ZAG SLAP 92 is an all-mountain ski designed for intermediate to advanced skiers who want to explore the entire ski area without limiting themselves to a single type of terrain. Versatile and playful, it invites you to move from groomed runs to light off-piste areas and freestyle zones, all with the same sense of freedom and creativity. Its 92 mm waist width places it at the intersection of precision on hard snow and float in groomed snow. Developed and tested at ZAGLAB in Chamonix, it reflects a technical approach rooted in real-world mountain conditions.

Intended Use and Preferred Terrain: An all-mountain ski open to freeriding

The Zag SLAP 92 is designed for skiers who refuse to choose between the piste and light off-piste. Its range covers versatile alpine skiing, accessible freeriding, and freestyle areas, making it a well-rounded resort companion. The raised tip and tail, in a partial twin-tip configuration, make it easier to ski in switch and allow for some expressiveness on jumps or in play areas. Its moderate flex makes it accessible without being too forgiving, allowing an intermediate skier to improve while offering enough responsiveness to satisfy an advanced skier.

Dimensions and Geometry: A Balance Between Grip and Float

The dimensions of the Zag SLAP 92 vary depending on the length chosen, with a tip ranging from 123 to 128 mm, a waist between 91 and 92 mm, and a tail between 109 and 114 mm. This progressive geometry offers a good compromise: narrow enough at the waist to maintain precision in on-piste turns, and wide enough at the tip to prevent the ski from sinking into fresh or groomed snow. The multi-radius shape promotes a natural transition between short, dynamic turns and wider turns, depending on the pressure applied to the ski.

Double Rocker Profile: Versatility in All Conditions

The Rocker/Camber/Rocker profile—known as double rocker with moderate camber—is at the heart of this ski’s versatility. The rocker at the tip facilitates turn initiation and improves float in ungroomed snow, while the central camber maintains solid grip on hard snow and ensures energy return when exiting turns. The rocker at the tail, combined with the partial twin-tip shape, frees up the rear edge and simplifies navigation through varied terrain or light powder. Moderate to high torsion further enhances edge grip on packed surfaces.

Construction and Materials: Structured Lightweight Design

The “Heavy Duty Light” construction is based on a semi-CAP sandwich design with ABS sidewalls, which combines impact resistance with a lightweight structure. The wood core combines paulownia and poplar, two complementary wood species: paulownia provides lightness, while poplar enhances mechanical strength. The multiaxial fiberglass laminates ensure the cohesion of the entire structure and contribute to the ski’s responsiveness without adding weight. The sintered base, which is denser than an extruded base, absorbs wax better and improves glide over time. The 100% recycled steel edges and the FSC-certified core reflect a commitment to responsible manufacturing. Two technologies unique to the manufacturer—Adaptive Absorber and Adaptive Pivot Control—help absorb vibrations and manage pivot, resulting in more stable and precise handling depending on speed and terrain.

The Zag SLAP 92, available in 160- and 166-cm lengths, is designed for skiers looking for a ski capable of handling varied conditions, from groomed runs to powder and off-piste terrain. Its balanced construction and dual-rocker profile make it a solid choice for anyone looking to improve their skills or simply expand their play area without switching skis.
