Dynastar positions the M-TOUR 94 OPEN as a freetouring ski designed for advanced to expert skiers who want to explore the backcountry without sacrificing versatility on all types of snow. With a waist width of 93 mm, it bridges the gap between narrow touring skis and wide freeride skis, offering a solid balance between lightness on the ascent and float in powder. Its backcountry freestyle profile is aimed at those who tackle multiple vertical drops independently and are looking for a ski that performs equally well on hard-packed snow and fresh powder. The 2027 collection features a construction designed to reduce environmental impact without compromising technical performance.

Intended Use and Preferred Terrain: Backcountry in Focus

Ski touring is evolving toward increasingly challenging pursuits, and the M-TOUR 94 OPEN is specifically designed to meet this trend. Its backcountry freestyle program is geared toward off-piste skiing on varied terrain: couloirs, open slopes, forests, and powder-filled bowls. The tip/waist/tail dimensions of 127/93/118 mm create a balanced profile that facilitates weight transfer both forward and backward on the ski, which is particularly useful in the rugged terrain of the backcountry. This ski is designed for skiers who have already mastered the basics and want to progress to more challenging outings outside marked ski areas.

Rocker Profile and Performance on Varied Snow Conditions

The M-TOUR 94 OPEN’s Progressive Rocker profile plays a central role in its versatility. This profile, which gradually rises at the tip, makes it easier to initiate turns by reducing the length of the edge in contact with the snow, thereby reducing the effort required to initiate a turn. In powder, this same rocker improves float by naturally lifting the tip upward. On hard or packed snow, the cambered central zone maintains sufficient contact with the surface to ensure solid grip during traverses and aggressive turns. This hybrid profile is therefore a logical technical choice for a ski designed to handle changing conditions in a single outing.

Construction and Core: Lightweight and Shock-Absorbing for Effortless Ascents

The Full Sidewall Sandwich construction fully envelops the sides of the ski, which enhances the transfer of pressure to the edge and improves bite during turns. This construction approach, combined with the Hybrid Core 2.0 made of lightweight poplar and PU, keeps the total weight down to 1.3 kg per ski—a significant advantage for ascents, where every gram counts over long distances. Unidirectional fiberglass reinforcements contribute to the ski’s longitudinal stiffness, ensuring adequate shock absorption on uneven terrain without adding unnecessary weight. The Sintered HD base rounds out this technical profile by offering durable glide and good wax retention, which is useful for long, self-supported outings.

The Dynastar M-TOUR 94 OPEN stands out as a solid choice for the advanced skier who practices ski touring with ambitions to tackle varied terrain and gradually increase their commitment. Available in 170, 178, and 186 cm, it allows you to choose a length that suits your body type and skiing style—a shorter length enhances maneuverability in couloirs, while a longer length improves stability at high speeds on open slopes.
