The Line Sakana is a freeride ski designed for experienced skiers looking to explore the mountains off the beaten path without sacrificing on-piste versatility. With a 110 mm waist width and its distinctive swallowtail shape, it offers remarkable float in powder while maintaining carving capabilities you wouldn’t necessarily expect from such a wide ski. Its directional profile and meticulous construction make it a well-rounded tool, designed for committed and enjoyable skiing across varied terrain. The Line Sakana is for those who want a ski with a strong character, capable of performing equally well in deep snow and on a groomed couloir.
The Sakana clearly belongs in the freeride category, but its 5-Cut Multi-Radius Sidecut geometry gives it a much wider range of turns than average for this category. This multi-radius sidecut technology allows the turning radius to be adjusted based on pressure and lean, delivering both short, dynamic turns and long, fluid arcs. With a reference radius of 18.5 m, the ski lends itself to aggressive alpine skiing without being limited to a single style. The 144/110/133 mm dimensions confirm its focus on snow-covered terrain and untracked snow, while maintaining sufficient grip for controlled off-piste skiing.
The swallowtail design is the most distinctive visual and functional feature of the Skis Line Sakana. This split tail reduces the ski’s rear contact area, making it feel lighter in deep snow and facilitating pivoting. The swallowtail is reinforced with Titanal, providing the necessary stiffness to prevent deformation under the stresses of hard snow or during aggressive turns. The Early Rise profile, combined with classic camber underfoot, ensures natural float in powder while maintaining precise edge grip on groomed snow. This hybrid profile is particularly well-suited for days when conditions alternate between fresh snow and groomed sections.
The Sakana’s structure relies on several complementary materials, the main benefits of which are as follows:
The bio-based resin integrated into the construction reflects a design approach mindful of environmental impact, with 31% bio-based carbon in the formulation.
The Sakana Line ski is an excellent choice for the experienced skier who regularly practices freeriding and is looking for a ski with a distinct character, capable of adapting to changing snow conditions. Its 110 mm waist width, reinforced swallowtail, and multi-radius geometry make it a reliable companion for off-piste excursions, natural couloirs, and powder days, available in 174- and 181-cm lengths to suit different body types and riding styles.
Founded in a garage in New York State in 1995, LINE has embodied a certain vision of skiing for thirty years: more fun, more creative, less conventional.
