Alpine skis: Performance, pleasure and versatility

Whether you're a beginner or an expert looking for exceptional performance, Speck has a wide range of skis to suit all levels and styles. Skiing is a winter sport that encompasses several disciplines. It's a sport that's becoming increasingly popular every year, both in France and around the world. Every year, there are championships and competitions at French and international level, and even at Olympic level. There's also a Giant Slalom World Cup, a true test of technique in which the world's greatest skiers compete.

What is downhill skiing?

Alpine skiing, whether on piste or off-piste, is characterised by the use of rigid bindings that firmly connect the boots to the skis, ensuring optimum control. In the resorts, the marked runs are prepared to offer regular conditions, but for thrill-seekers, off-piste allows you to explore natural, ungroomed terrain. However, off-piste skiing requires a good technique and a high level of vigilance in the face of avalanche risks. But if you're an expert skier and take part in slalom competitions, you could opt for a pair of racing skis.

Choosing the right alpine skis

Your choice of alpine skis depends on a number of factors, including your ability, your skiing style and the snow conditions. Here are a few criteria to consider:

  • Level of ability: Beginner skis are generally more flexible and forgiving, while expert models offer better responsiveness and grip for more technical skiing.
  • Type of terrain: For marked runs, skis with a narrow sidecut and short turn radius offer manoeuvrability and precision. If you like to combine piste and off-piste skiing, choose wider all-mountain skis that can float on powder but still perform well on hard snow. Off-piste or freeride skis are wider, so you can ski down powder.
  • Ski length: In general, the longer your skis, the more stable they will be at high speeds, which is an advantage on piste and off-piste. Shorter, more manoeuvrable skis are better suited to beginners and those who like tight turns.

And don't forget your complementary equipment, such as quality ski boots and ski poles.

Our quality commitments

All our alpine skis are selected from the best brands on the market, includingAtomic, Rossignol, Faction and many others. Each pair of skis is made from quality materials, offering durability, lightness and performance to maximise your sensations on the snow, whether you're on piste or off-piste.

Whether you're looking for skis for beginners, to perfect your technique, or to take on new challenges, you'll find the model that's right for you. The Speck experts are on hand to advise you and help you make the best choice.
