A Nordic touring ski designed for the backcountry

The Rossignol XP 120 POSITRACK Nordic touring skis are described as lightweight skis designed for the backcountry, offering excellent maneuverability across varied terrain. Their clear focus on Nordic touring allows you to explore routes where the trail isn’t necessarily groomed, whether in the forest, on plateaus, or in valleys. Their sidecut of 120-90-105 mm provides float and stability, which enhances control on descents while maintaining ease of turning. This geometry, combined with a backcountry-specific construction, helps ensure secure footing when the terrain becomes more challenging.

A technical construction for control and stability

At the heart of the Rossignol XP 120 POSITRACK Nordic touring skis is an LDC wood core, made of paulownia and poplar, which reduces weight while maintaining consistent performance underfoot. This lightweight structure is combined with Activ Cap technology, which offers a balance between torsional stiffness and flexibility from tip to tail—beneficial for stability in changing snow conditions. Full-length steel edges enhance grip and control, particularly on hard snow or when executing precise turns on the descent. Air Tip technology at the tip improves floatation, making it easier to maneuver in deeper snow and reducing the risk of the ski sinking in.

Grip and glide with the waxless Positrack base

The base of the Rossignol XP 120 POSITRACK Nordic touring skis features a waxless Positrack base, designed to offer a combination of grip and glide in a variety of snow conditions. This base treatment incorporates a thermoformed anti-slip system, designed to maintain a smooth glide while providing good grip when moving forward on hilly terrain. This design minimizes the maintenance requirements associated with waxing, making it well-suited for regular backcountry Nordic touring.

Binding Compatibility and Size Options

The Rossignol XP 120 POSITRACK Nordic touring skis are compatible with telemark, alpine touring, or alpine bindings, giving you great flexibility in choosing your binding system based on your specific needs. A specific reinforcement zone is designed to accommodate these types of bindings, ensuring the ski’s durability at the mounting points. These skis are available in lengths of 160 cm, 170 cm, and 180 cm, with the 170 cm and 180 cm options listed on the product page, allowing you to choose a length that suits your height, weight, and skill level. The approximate weight of 1,600 g per ski in the standard size highlights this model’s lightweight design within the world of Nordic ski touring.
