The Lib Tech Skate Banana is one of the most iconic snowboards in modern snowboarding, born out of a desire to make riding more accessible, more playful, and more intuitive on all types of snow. Designed for freestyle-oriented all-mountain riding, it’s ideal for both experienced riders looking to have fun all over the mountain and those who want to improve their all-around skills. Its hybrid profile and twin shape make it a board designed to turn every section of the trail, every bump, and every feature into a playground. The Lib Tech Skate Banana snowboard delivers on its promise through a combination of forgiveness, responsiveness, and crisp feedback, regardless of snow conditions.
Banana Technology: A Hybrid Profile Designed for Versatility
At the heart of the Skate Banana lies Banana Technology (BTX), a hybrid profile that combines a rocker centered between the feet with a slight camber under the bindings and at the tips. This combination offers the best of both worlds: the forgiveness and natural lift of the rocker make it easier to initiate turns and reduce the risk of catching an edge, while the camber at the tips provides pop and precision when exiting turns. In short, you get a board that forgives mistakes without sacrificing responsiveness, making it effective both on the slopes and in varied conditions.
Twin shape and flex: a board designed to ride both ways
The Lib Tech Skate Banana snowboard features a symmetrical True Twin shape, meaning the tip and tail are identical in length and shape. This geometry is designed for freestyle and riding switch: you can ride in both directions with equal ease, which is a real advantage for playing on features, jumps, or on-piste tricks. The flex, which falls within a soft-to-medium range, complements this design by allowing some flexibility under the front foot to initiate tricks, while maintaining enough stability to engage the edges confidently on a groomed run.
Construction: Lightweight, Durable, and Edge Technology
The Skate Banana’s construction is based on several complementary technologies that account for its performance qualities. Here are the key elements to note:
- Original Power Construction (OP+) core: a 75% poplar / 25% paulownia blend that combines lightness and strength, FSC®-certified for responsible wood sourcing.
- Tri-Ax/Bi-Ax fiberglass laminates: a combination that adjusts torsional stiffness according to different areas of the board, for dynamic performance without excessive stiffness.
- Magne-Traction®: serrated edges that increase the contact surface with the snow, improving grip on ice and hard surfaces without altering the board’s overall feel.
- Sintered Knife Cut Base: a sintered base that absorbs wax more effectively and provides long-lasting glide.
- UHMW protection at the tip and tail: a shock-absorbing shield at the ends that extends the board’s lifespan in the event of an impact.
Setup and Binding Compatibility
The Lib Tech Skate Banana snowboard features a 2x4 insert system, compatible with the vast majority of snowboard bindings available on the market. This standard allows you to precisely adjust the spacing and angle of your bindings to suit your body type and riding style. The board is available in a 156 cm size, a length suitable for a wide range of rider sizes for all-mountain freestyle riding at the resort.
The Lib Tech Skate Banana snowboard stands out as a solid choice for the experienced rider looking for a versatile board that performs equally well on groomed runs and in varied conditions, with a true freestyle identity. Its BTX hybrid profile, twin shape, and meticulous construction make it a long-lasting favorite for those seeking to ride with spontaneity and efficiency, without compromising on durability.
