Designed for beginner skiers, this Head alpine ski pack combines an all-mountain ski with an Allride Rocker profile—which makes it easier to learn how to turn on a variety of snow conditions—with GripWalk-compatible PR 11 GW bindings that provide reliable power transfer. The graphene-infused core and Cap Sandwich construction provide stability and predictable handling as your technique improves.
This Head package is designed for beginner and intermediate skiers looking to improve their skills on the slopes, whether on groomed runs or all-mountain terrain. The combination of the Discovery 78 Sport ski and PR 11 GW bindings creates a cohesive package, designed to support skill development without sacrificing everyday skiing comfort. The 78 mm waist width offers a good balance between on-piste maneuverability and versatility in a variety of conditions.
The ski features a Cap Sandwich construction that combines a lightweight surface with structural stiffness where it’s needed most. The core incorporates graphene, a material that distributes mechanical stress evenly along the entire length of the ski. Auxetic Tech technology ensures a progressive flex—that is, a flex that gradually adapts to the skier’s pressure—making it easier to initiate turns without requiring advanced technique. The Superframe construction enhances torsional stiffness, ensuring the ski maintains precise tracking even on uneven snow. The UHM C Base completes the package with a durable and consistent glide surface.
The Allride Rocker profile, combined with classic camber underfoot, gives the Discovery 78 Sport balanced handling: the rocker at the tip makes it easier to initiate turns and is forgiving of imprecise edging, while the central camber maintains firm contact with the snow for stable handling at medium speeds. The sidecut of 128/78/110 mm (for the 170 cm length) and a turning radius of 13.7 m make this ski ideal for medium-radius turns, suitable for on-piste alpine skiing and light off-piste excursions. The unidirectional construction enhances the ski’s predictability: it responds in a predictable manner, which is a real advantage for skiers still developing their technique.
The PR 11 GW bindings cover a DIN range of 3 to 11, making them compatible with a wide range of body types and skill levels, from beginners to advanced skiers. The 31 mm toe piece height promotes direct power transfer between the boot and the ski. PowerRail technology optimizes this power transfer along the entire length of the ski-binding interface. The Full Diagonal Toe release system provides a progressive and controlled release of the boot in the event of a fall, reducing stress on the knee. The bindings are GripWalk-compatible (ISO standards 5355A and 9523), making them compatible with modern ski boots featuring rounded heels.
The Head Discovery 78 Sport + PR 11 GW ski pack is available in sizes 156, 163, and 170 cm, with a total weight of approximately 3 kg, and provides a solid technical foundation for improving your skills throughout the season on all types of snow.
