The Odlo ZEROWEIGHT INSULATOR jacket is a hybrid hooded jacket designed for men who enjoy cross-country skiing and outdoor activities in winter conditions. Positioned as an insulating midlayer, it combines synthetic warmth with freedom of movement thanks to a construction made entirely of four-way stretch jersey. Its versatility makes it suitable for both sustained exertion on cross-country trails and more casual use in cold conditions. It’s designed for athletes seeking a practical balance between thermal insulation, breathability, and functionality.

Thermal Insulation and Active Thermoregulation

At the heart of the Odlo ZEROWEIGHT INSULATOR is Freudenberg poly insulation—a synthetic filling made from recycled plastic bottles—which provides effective warmth even in sub-zero temperatures. Unlike down insulation, this synthetic material retains its insulating properties when exposed to moisture generated by physical exertion, making it a logical choice for activities of varying intensity, such as cross-country skiing. The fabric’s breathable structure allows for active moisture management, minimizing the feeling of stuffiness during periods of intense exertion.

Freedom of Movement and Comfort

The jacket is made entirely of four-way stretch jersey, a fabric that adapts to movements in all directions without restricting movement. This feature is particularly relevant for cross-country skiing, a sport that engages the entire upper body with wide ranges of motion. The regular fit ensures the garment stays in place without being bulky, allowing you to wear a protective jacket over it. The result is a mid-layer that doesn’t restrict arm or shoulder movement, even during repeated pole pushes.

Functionality and Practicality for Everyday Use

The Odlo ZEROWEIGHT INSULATOR incorporates several details designed for on-the-ground use. Here are the key functional features to note:

• Pre-shaped hood: adapts to the head’s shape without falling over the eyes during movement.
• Full-length zipper: allows for quick temperature regulation by adjusting the opening based on the intensity of your activity.
• Hidden zippered side pockets: securely hold accessories without adding bulky volume under an outer layer.
• Reflective details: improve visibility during outings in low-light conditions.
• Windproof: reduces the cooling effect of the wind during descents or while gliding.

Environmental responsibility: recycled materials and PFAS-free

The design of this jacket reflects a concrete commitment to the environment: 91% of the main fabric is made from recycled polyester, and all insert and filling materials are also made from recycled polyester, bringing the total proportion of recycled materials to at least 50% of the overall composition. The Freudenberg Poly insulation itself is made from recycled plastic bottles. The jacket is also PFAS-free, meaning that no water-repellent treatments containing perfluorocarbons were used in its manufacture. Designed in Switzerland and knitted in Norway, it is part of a commitment to production traceability.

Whether you’re going on a long cross-country ski outing or looking for a versatile insulating layer for your winter activities, the Odlo ZEROWEIGHT INSULATOR offers a technically sound solution: active synthetic insulation, four-way stretch, and a construction made primarily from recycled materials, for conditions ranging from moderately cold to extremely cold.
