The North Face Chakal Men's Ski Jacket: Technical Protection and Warmth on the Slopes

Designed for skiers who refuse to compromise on thermal comfort and protection from the elements, the The North Face Chakal is a versatile men’s ski jacket built for demanding winter days. Its waterproof and breathable DryVent™ 2L membrane, combined with fully taped seams, forms a reliable barrier against snow and moisture. Heatseeker™ Advanced synthetic insulation rounds out the package by maintaining consistent warmth, even when temperatures drop. The result: a technical jacket with a standard fit, suitable for everything from intense skiing to breaks on a terrace.

Waterproofing and Breathability: The DryVent™ 2L Membrane at Work

The body of The North Face Chakal is woven from DryVent™ 2L, a twill fabric made from 94% recycled polyester and 6% spandex. This composition makes the jacket completely waterproof, enhanced by fully taped seams that prevent any water from seeping in at the seams. The PFC-free durable water-repellent (DWR) finish treats the outer surface so that water beads up and runs off immediately, without saturating the fabric. The membrane’s inherent breathability, meanwhile, allows water vapor produced by physical exertion to escape, reducing the feeling of stuffiness during sustained descents. The snow skirt with hook-and-loop elastic and jacket-to-pants integration system completes this all-around waterproofing by preventing snow from seeping in from the bottom.

Heatseeker™ Advanced Insulation: Controlled warmth in all weather conditions

The Chakal’s insulation is based on Heatseeker™ Advanced technology, a synthetic insulation made from 80% post-consumer recycled polyester. Unlike down insulation, this synthetic fiber retains its insulating properties even when damp, ensuring consistent thermal comfort throughout your day on the slopes. The body lining, also made of 100% recycled polyester, helps manage internal heat. To prevent overheating during intense activity, underarm vents allow for active temperature regulation by simply opening the dedicated zippers.

Features and Practicality: A Jacket Designed for the Slopes

The North Face Chakal features a range of technical details that make it easy to use every day. Here are the elements that define its functionality on the slopes:

• Removable, adjustable, helmet-compatible hood: adapts to your gear without obstructing your field of vision.
• Cuffs with built-in thumb loops and hook-and-loop closures: ensure thermal continuity between the jacket and gloves, with no gaps for cold air to enter.
• Wrist pocket with built-in goggle cloth: handy for cleaning your goggles without having to look for an extra accessory.
• Soft knit chin guard: protects the chin from chafing caused by the central zipper and is polyurethane-coated for added waterproofing.
• Multiple internal and external zippered pockets: two chest pockets, two hand pockets, one internal zippered pocket, and one large internal mesh pocket to organize your belongings.

The hem features an adjustable drawcord that lets you tailor the jacket to your body shape and prevent drafts from entering at the bottom.

Built-in sustainability: recycled materials and Fair Trade certification

The North Face designed the Chakal with a focus on the environmental impact of its manufacturing. The shell, lining, and insulation all use recycled polyester materials, reducing the reliance on virgin resources. The DWR water-repellent finish is PFC-free, eliminating a class of persistent chemical compounds. The jacket is also Fair Trade Certified™, ensuring fair working conditions for the people who make it.

With The North Face Chakal, every run is spent in skiwear designed to last and perform: flawless waterproofing, reliable synthetic warmth, and thoughtful details so you can focus on just one thing—making the most of the slopes.
