GORE-TEX Surround® technology is at the heart of the design. Unlike a traditional membrane, it covers not only the upper but also the insole and midsole, featuring TPU side ventilation ports. This allows air to circulate across the entire surface of the foot, including the underside, significantly reducing heat buildup during long outings. This membrane works in synergy with the Nano-Cell™ 2.0 structure—composed of ultra-breathable cells integrated into the upper—to maximize heat exchange without compromising waterproofing.
A Vibram® outsole for traction on technical trails
The Vibram® XS Trek outsole features the Impact Brake System™, which improves traction and stability on descents thanks to a 5-mm lug pattern designed to slow momentum on slopes. The 6 mm heel-to-toe drop positions the foot naturally for fast walking, while the Tempo 2 last provides a precise fit around the foot to minimize unwanted movement. The compression-molded EVA midsole absorbs shock on uneven terrain, and the 5 mm Ortholite insole rounds out the package by providing long-lasting cushioning for everyday use.
Stability and support for demanding trails
The STB™ control system provides anti-torsion stabilization throughout the entire shoe. By integrating GORE-TEX Surround® ventilation ports into its structure, it balances foot support and breathability without compromising either. The abrasion-resistant mesh upper is reinforced with a TechLite PU toe cap and heel counter—two areas particularly exposed to impact and friction during hiking and trekking.
