Let's start with our beloved Alsace, from the Château du Haut-Barr to the Grotte de Brotsch!
Today, we're taking you on an excursion to Saverne to discover the remains of the Haut-Barr castle and its neighbors! The tour includes not only the ruins of Haut-Barr, but also those of the large and small Géroldseck castles, as well as the Brotsch tower and grotto. The tower was built in 1897 in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Club Vosgien in Saverne! Along the way, you'll enjoy dazzling views of the Vosges foothills.
This is a fairly easy hike, but still a fine one. Avoid rainy days for this forest trail hike. The trail is easily accessible and the whole tour will take you less than 3 hours on average, with reasonable breaks. Ideal for families, you can enjoy a bite to eat in the restaurant at Château du Haut-Barr. Please note that picnics are forbidden and that there are no water points along the route. Remember to bring your water bottle or isothermal bottle, which you can find in our hydration products.

Route:
The hike starts directly from the parking lot of Château du Haut-Barr, which you can visit along with its chapel. The view from the so-called"Eye of Alsace" offers a breathtaking panorama of Alsace and the Vosges. After a short while, you'll come to the ruins of the large and, further on, the small Géroldseck, castles dating back to the 13th century. On the way down, you'll land on the witches' table, known as Hexentisch. You then climb back up to the Brotsch tower, which marks the summit of the Brotschberg. Don't hesitate to climb its staircase for a breathtaking panoramic view! Continue on until you reach the viewpoint from the Brotsch rock and its grotto. Once you've reached this point, you can make your way back in the direction of"petit krappenfels", which will take you along the forest path to the witches' table. From here, you can easily cross the road and then go around the Petit Gérolseck to get back to the path you started from. The same applies to the Grand Gérolseck, which you can bypass and then take the path back to the parking lot.
