The Pic Saint-Loup overlooks the plain and the Occitan coastline: climbing it is a not-to-be-missed hike around the city of Montpellier.
After just 30 minutes by car, you should be able to see the first foothills of the Cévennes where the peak backs onto. A car park awaits you at the start of the hike. The trail is well signposted and fairly well used, so it's easy to find your way through the arid Mediterranean vegetation of holm oak, Aleppo pine andarbutus.
Whether you're on your own or with the family, the panorama will never cease to amaze you! Be careful, though: hiking boots are highly recommended, and some sections of the trail will require you to hold on with your hands. At the end of the hike, you'll find a pretty chapel and a cross, but above all a magnificent view that will make you forget that strenuous climb.
