Scott arrives at Speck Sports
Scott is an outdoor brand with a worldwide reputation for high quality, reliable equipment! Whether on skis or a bike, the Swiss brand has established itself as a market leader, offering ever more innovative products at the cutting edge of technology!
It was in 1958 that engineer Ed Scott invented the first aluminium ski pole! It's fair to say that we owe him a debt of gratitude when we look at today's ski pole market and the range of products it offers!
Initially, Scott set up in Switzerland but concentrated on Germany for the distribution of its products! Over time, the brand grew in importance and covered the global outdoor market by diversifying its products.
Scott at the Tour de France
Many of you will have seen the famous Scott bikes at the Tour de France! However, contrary to popular belief, it wasn't until 1986 that their first bike left the factory! And it was a mountain bike! After that, the models and series diversified and Scott flooded the cycling competitions!
This year Scott is back with its Superguide ski series, which we present in detail because at Speck Sports we're keen to tell you all about the latest gear and everything that's happening in the world of skiing!
Scott Superguide 88
This series was created to offer the right balance between power, lightness and performance! If you're a fan of adventure and the great outdoors, and you're not afraid of the mountains, don't hesitate! This is the ski for you!
It does, however, require a good command of the discipline, especially if you want to test yourself on long vertical drops during your ski touring sessions! It will hold up well on the descents with great stability, but will also be comfortable when you need to warm up your quadriceps on the climbs!
The 88 is the narrowest version in the Superguide range! This makes it easier for you to climb. But it's made from the same materials as its two bigger brothers, the Superguide 95 and Superguide Freetour.
The core is made from full Paulownia wood and there are, of course, wooden reinforcements to ensure that the ski is as light as ever but still very stiff.
As for the construction, we're using a semi-elliptical sandwich with inclined fields made from carbon and aramid! This process gives us a ski that's both rigid and able to withstand torsion! On top of that, this is a very light ski, so it's easy to manoeuvre.
It has a 320 Pro Tip rocker, which provides the lift you need when skiing in deep snow. It's also very versatile and agile!
