Volkl MANTRA 88 FLAT Skis

The Völkl MANTRA 88 FLAT falls into the category of directional all-mountain alpine skis, designed for advanced to expert skiers looking for a versatile ski without compromising on performance. With a waist width of 88 mm, it strikes the perfect balance between a pure piste ski and a mountain ski, capable of adapting to a variety of snow conditions without sacrificing precision on groomed runs. Its tip-and-tail rocker profile, combined with camber underfoot, gives it a response that’s both lively and stable—perfect for skiers who tackle a variety of terrain without wanting to switch skis. The Völkl MANTRA 88 FLAT’s promise is clear: power, precision, and versatility in a single ski.

An all-mountain ski designed for varied terrain

The MANTRA 88 FLAT is designed for skiers who don’t limit themselves to a single type of terrain. On groomed runs, it offers solid edge grip and precision in turn execution that will meet the expectations of demanding skiers. Whether in light off-piste conditions, packed snow, or mixed terrain, its 88 mm waist width ensures sufficient float to stay comfortable without feeling cumbersome. Its directional shape gives it a downhill-oriented character, geared toward aggressive and dynamic skiing rather than tricks or freestyle. This ski is designed for skiers looking to improve or express themselves across the entire ski area, in all conditions.

Hybrid profile: grip on the piste and float in fresh snow

The Völkl MANTRA 88 FLAT’s profile combines tip and tail rocker with a central camber. The rocker at the tip and tail makes it easier to initiate turns and improves performance in fresh or ungroomed snow by preventing the tips from digging in. The camber underfoot, meanwhile, maintains effective contact with hard snow, ensuring the grip and precision characteristic of a piste-oriented ski. This hybrid profile is particularly well-suited for skiers who switch between different snow conditions throughout the day without having to compromise between float and control.

A Technical Construction for Stability and Agility

The construction of the MANTRA 88 FLAT is based on several complementary technical elements that account for its excellent performance. Here are the key components and their specific benefits:

• Multilayer poplar/beech wood core: combines lightness and dynamism with a responsive feel underfoot.
• Tailored Titanal Frame: The width of the titanal is adjusted according to the ski’s length, optimizing stiffness and shock absorption based on the skier’s size.
• Tailored Carbon Tips: stiffen the tip without adding weight, promoting sharper turn initiation and greater agility.
• Full Sidewall: Transmitsedge pressure directly and precisely, enhancing control on hard snow.
• Sintered P-Tex 2100 base: ensures smooth glide and increased durability over time, regardless of snow conditions.

Geometry and Radius: Adaptable turns depending on riding style

The 3D Radius Sidecut technology integrated into the MANTRA 88 FLAT allows the turn radius to vary based on the angle of lean and speed, offering a broader range of riding styles. The ski is equally capable of carving wide, fluid turns on open terrain as it is of initiating shorter, more dynamic turns on narrower slopes. Available in four lengths—163, 170, 177, and 184 cm—it adapts to different body types and skiing styles, with each length naturally adjusting the contact area and effective radius.

The Völkl MANTRA 88 FLAT is ideal for advanced to expert skiers who want an all-mountain ski capable of handling groomed runs with ease while still performing well in a variety of conditions. Its technical construction and hybrid profile make it a logical choice for those who ski across the entire ski area and expect a precise response from their skis, regardless of the snow conditions they encounter.
