Zag AROC Ski Set + Bindings

ZAG, a Savoyard brand founded in Chamonix, positions the Zag AROC skis as high-performance all-mountain skis designed for advanced skiers. Designed for those seeking both grip on groomed runs and true versatility in a variety of snow conditions, this model combines maneuverability and stability at high speeds. Its Rocker-Camber-Rocker profile and stiff flex make it a precise tool, designed for dedicated skiers who don’t want to sacrifice performance on groomed snow in favor of a more forgiving ride.

All-Mountain Profile: Grip on the piste and versatility in varied conditions

Zag AROC skis are designed for advanced skiers who primarily ski groomed runs but regularly venture off-piste. Its waist width of approximately 85 to 87 mm places it in an intermediate category: narrow enough to provide solid grip on hard snow, yet wide enough to offer a minimum of float in fresh or transformed snow. This positioning makes them a well-rounded companion for a varied day of skiing, without extreme specialization in either discipline.

Rocker-Camber-Rocker profile: grip underfoot, smooth entry and exit from turns

The hybrid profile adopted on the Zag AROC features a rocker tip, a pronounced camber underfoot, and a slight rise at the tail. This Rocker-Camber-Rocker design facilitates turn initiation thanks to the progressive edge engagement provided by the front rocker, while the central camber maintains continuous pressure on the snow for powerful grip during the turn. The slight tail lift, meanwhile, facilitates turn exit and prevents the ski from catching in heavy snow or light powder. This profile is ideal for skiers who attack their turns with commitment and seek a responsive feel with every push.

The turning radius is rated at approximately 18 meters for a length of 173 cm, which corresponds to an average radius, suitable for wide to intermediate turns. This radius allows for a rhythmic ride on wide slopes without forcing overly tight turns, while remaining maneuverable in a couloir or on more technical terrain.

Construction: FSC-certified poplar core, Titanal, and quadri-axial fibers for stability and responsiveness

The Zag AROC’s construction relies on a combination of complementary materials, the main elements of which are as follows:

  • FSC-certified poplar wood core: lightweight and responsive, it provides good energy return while supporting an eco-friendly approach.
  • Titanal inserts underfoot: This metal reinforcement increases torsional stiffness in the steering zone, providing sharper grip on hard snow.
  • Quadriaxial fibers: oriented in multiple directions, they reinforce the overall structure and contribute to stability at high speeds.
  • UHMW sintered base: denser and more durable than an extruded base, it absorbs wax better and improves glide on varied snow conditions.
  • Shock-absorbing rubber: Integrated into the construction, it absorbs vibrations on uneven snow and reduces muscle fatigue at the end of the day.

The edges are made from 100% recycled, high-strength steel—a choice that combines durability with environmental commitment. The ZAG brand is part of the Zagreen initiative, which includes the use of bio-based resins and a bio-based topsheet, as well as participation in the “1% for the Planet” and “Protect Our Winter” programs.

The Zag AROC skis, available in lengths of 173, 178, and 185 cm, are designed for different skier profiles based on body type and skiing style. This model is suitable for intermediate to expert skiers who are comfortable carving on groomed runs and want a ski capable of adapting to changing conditions without losing precision. Its robust construction and hybrid profile make it a solid choice for everyday skiing in the Alps.
