K2 RECON X 130 BOA Ski Boots

Designed for advanced and expert skiers seeking precision and responsiveness in all snow conditions, the K2 RECON X 130 BOA is an all-mountain ski boot that is both precise and adaptable. Its particularly stiff 130 flex ensures direct transmission of the skier’s intentions to the ski, without compromising responsiveness. The BOA® Fit System complements this promise of performance by offering micro-adjustable tightening with a level of precision rarely achieved with traditional buckles. Designed for men who ski aggressively, the K2 RECON X 130 BOA meets the demands of both technical runs and varied all-mountain skiing.

Flex and fit: stiffness calibrated for the advanced skier

With a flex rating of 130, the K2 RECON X 130 BOA is clearly aimed at advanced to expert skiers capable of generating the pressure needed to fully harness this stiffness. A high flex rating means immediate energy transfer to the ski, resulting in sharper edge engagement and better terrain awareness at high speeds. However, the boot isn’t limited to a single profile: it comes with two interchangeable flex tabs—one rated at 130 and the other at 110—allowing you to adjust the stiffness based on conditions or fatigue at the end of the day. In terms of fit, the last measures between 97 and 100 mm at the metatarsal—a medium-width profile that’s adjustable via the thermoforming MultiFit system, which accommodates different forefoot shapes without sacrificing lateral support.

Comfort and Customization: A Liner Designed for Bootfitting

The semi-customizable P4 Heat Moldable Liner is designed to be thermoformed directly to the foot, providing a custom fit from the very first runs. The Powerlite TPU shell is also thermoformable, which allows a bootfitter to fine-tune the fit for specific foot shapes. The MultiFit system complements this by allowing the forefoot width to be adjusted via heat molding to cover a range from 97 to 100 mm. This level of customization ensures effective heel retention—an essential condition for maintaining control during edge changes on challenging terrain.

Lacing and Convenience: The BOA® Fit System at the Heart of the Design

The K2 RECON X 130 BOA takes its name from its primary closure system on the lower shell: the BOA® Fit System H+i1, which allows for continuous micro-adjustment of tightness with a simple turn of the dial—even while wearing gloves. This feature significantly improves heel stability and the precision of edge-to-edge control in the most demanding conditions. It is complemented by two lightweight alloy buckles on the upper portion and a Velcro power strap at the collar, providing overall support for the leg and shin. The entire fastening system thus offers several independent adjustment points, each targeting a specific area of the foot and leg.

Traction and Compatibility: GripWalk Insoles for Walking and Modern Bindings

The GripWalk ISO 23223 insoles featured in the K2 RECON X 130 BOA are removable and interchangeable, a practical advantage for adapting the boot to different binding systems. The GripWalk standard improves traction when walking thanks to a rocker-shaped sole design, while remaining compatible with modern alpine bindings certified to this standard. This versatility makes transitions between lifts, departure zones, and slopes easier, without compromising safety when stepping out of the boot.

For an advanced or expert skier looking for an all-mountain boot that combines adjustable stiffness, precision lacing, and advanced customization, the K2 RECON X 130 BOA offers a technically sound solution. The combination of adjustable flex, a thermoformable liner, and the BOA® system makes this boot particularly well-suited for challenging slopes and intensive ski days, while offering the flexibility needed to adapt to different foot shapes thanks to easy boot fitting.
