The Arva Switch Mix Bundle Ride18+Explore30 is a solution designed for riders who don’t limit themselves to just one type of outing. This bundle combines two packs of different capacities—18 liters and 30 liters—with a single airbag base, the Base Reactor Switch, to adapt to everything from short freeride runs to more challenging ski-touring days. The concept is simple: one base unit, two volumes, and the freedom to choose based on the terrain and the length of the trip. Arva offers a modular system certified to EN 16716 / TÜV GS, designed for skiers and splitboarders who want to invest in scalable gear without having to buy multiple airbag bases.

Airbag System and Safety: A Certified Base Unit, a Handle Suited for Either Hand

At the heart of the pack, the Reactor 2.0 airbag system weighs 650 g and serves as the technical module shared by both covers. The activation handle is available in right- or left-handed versions, allowing each user to deploy the airbag in a natural position, regardless of handedness. The system is certified to EN 16716 / TÜV GS, a European standard for avalanche protection equipment. It’s important to remember that an airbag pack increases the chances of staying on the surface during an avalanche, but in no way guarantees survival: it must always be used in conjunction with an avalanche transceiver, a shovel, and a probe, and requires proper avalanche safety training.

Carrying comfort and ergonomics: an adjustable back panel for a variety of body types

The Base Reactor Switch features a 3-in-1 3D-Fit adjustment system that allows the pack to be adapted to different body types without compromising load stability. The back panel is thermoformed to ensure proper weight distribution across the back, while the soft, lightweight shoulder straps reduce pressure points on the shoulders during ascents. The back length is adjustable from 40 to 50 cm, accommodating a wide range of body types. The hip belt is removable and features a zippered pocket as well as a stretch mesh pocket for quick access to small accessories. The adjustable crotch strap, available in right- and left-hand versions, keeps the pack in place in the event of a burial and prevents the pack from riding up when the airbag deploys. An adjustable chest strap with a safety whistle completes the entire retention system.

The Explore 30-liter pack is made from recycled materials: the main fabric, made of 100% recycled 420D and 630D polyamide, offers tear resistance suitable for mountain environments, while the recycled 150D polyester lining helps reduce the product’s environmental footprint. These material choices reflect a responsible design approach without sacrificing the durability required for winter conditions.
