The Atomic N SHIFT² 16 MN ski bindings are designed for both men and women seeking high performance in freeriding and ski touring, while maintaining a high level of precision on the descent. Designed for aggressive skiing, they combine an extended DIN range of 8 to 16 with multi-standard compatibility to accommodate different types of ski boots. Their aluminum and carbon-infused PA construction offers a balance between durability and control, particularly for skiers who alternate between ascents and descents. Developed in collaboration with Atomic’s Freeride Team, they are aimed at enthusiasts of challenging runs seeking technical gear designed for their specific needs.

High-Performance Hybrid Bindings for Ascents and Descents

The Atomic N SHIFT² 16 MN ski bindings are described as hybrid bindings offering professional-level performance both on the ascent and the descent, making them an ideal solution for freeride and ski touring where you alternate between climbing and aggressive skiing. The aluminum Hike and Ride Switch system allows for a seamless transition from ascent to descent mode, offering tangible benefits in the form of simpler and faster transitions when the terrain demands changes in pace. The DIN range of 8 to 16 meets the needs of skiers seeking a binding capable of withstanding intensive use, while maintaining release values suited to high-impact conditions. With a 30-mm adjustment range, these bindings can be adapted to different sole lengths, making it easy to accommodate multiple boots or changes in equipment over the seasons.

Multi-standard compatibility and certification for safe use

The Atomic N SHIFT² 16 MN ski bindings are Multi Norm Certified (MNC), which guarantees compatibility with all standardized ski boots, whether alpine models or touring boots that comply with current standards. This broad compatibility simplifies gear management by allowing you to use a single set of bindings for different types of boots, whether for freeride or ski touring. The binding is also TÜV-certified, confirming that it meets verified safety and reliability requirements—an important consideration for mountain use, where mechanical stresses and conditions can vary widely. By combining these two elements—MNC and TÜV certification—Atomic offers a comprehensive solution for skiers who want to rely on recognized technical standards without compromising on versatility.

Power, power transfer, and ski control

The Atomic N SHIFT² 16 MN ski bindings feature a 3-Part Power Heel system, designed to improve the binding’s performance under heavy loads and optimize hold during forceful push-offs. This three-part heel promotes better shock absorption and more reliable release when the binding is subjected to dynamic stresses, which is particularly relevant for skiers tackling varied terrain. At the front, the Micro AFD with an aluminum Power Block provides increased lateral stiffness, allowing for a more direct transfer of energy between the boot and the ski, and thus greater precision during direction changes. The combination of these two systems contributes to more controlled ski handling by minimizing energy loss between your foot and the ski edge, while maintaining performance suited to the demands of freeriding and ski touring.

Robust construction and options to adapt the setup

The construction of the Atomic N SHIFT² 16 MN ski bindings is based on a combination of aluminum and carbon-infused PA, materials chosen for their ability to offer both mechanical strength and weight control. Weighing 1,210 g per binding, they offer a technical compromise for skiers seeking a binding capable of withstanding intense use without becoming excessively heavy. The available options—featuring a BENT CHETLER colorway and binding widths of 100 mm and 110 mm—allow you to choose a width suited to the waist of your skis, ensuring good coverage of the ski while minimizing unnecessary overhang. Finally, the fact that these bindings were developed in collaboration with athletes such as Daron Rahlves, Tonje Kvivik, and Craig Murray underscores the work done on practical aspects like performance in demanding terrain and control at high speeds or in difficult snow conditions—beyond mere technical specifications.

The Atomic N SHIFT² 16 MN ski bindings feature a DIN range of 8 to 16, an aluminum Hike and Ride Switch system, and Multi Norm Certified compatibility, all in a unisex design tailored for freeriding and ski touring.
