From creation to today
Gregory Mountain Products is a brand specialising in the rucksack industry, founded by a young Wayne Gregory in 1977 when he discovered his passion: making rucksacks to accompany us on all our adventures.
To fulfil this mission, he invented a suspension system that fits the body perfectly, paying particular attention to individual morphology by inventing new materials and manufacturing methods. Thanks to this new approach, he was able to launch the Gregory Mountain Products brand and its famous lifetime guarantee, which is still valid today.
For the next 4 decades, Wayne Gregory 's obsession with innovation, performance and comfort were the guiding principles behind the Gregory Mountain Products group, which went on to become a world leader in the rucksack industry, recognised in over 45 countries, not to mention winning numerous awards.
Today, their backpacks are designed, prototyped and manufactured at their headquarters, located a few kilometres from Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains.
Company fundamentals
The people who contribute to the brand's success are people like you and me. They have to balance family life, a professional career and a penchant for outdoor activities. As a result, they have a perfect understanding of the way outdoor enthusiasts are, their lifestyles, their desires and, above all, their needs. That's why they put their heart and soul into designing their products to best meet these different requirements. For them, a rucksack is like a piece of technical clothing, it shouldn't be a burden. It should be seen as an extension of the body, providing maximum comfort and reliability .
Values
In order to continue enjoying our favorite playground, the outside world, Gregory Mountain Products understands the need to preserve our planet.
This is why Gregory Mountain Products has implemented a policy aimed at reducing its ecological footprint as much as possible. This involves several actions, particularly during the logistics and packaging process. In fact, since 2018, Gregory Mountain Products has decided to rethink the dimensions of its Baltoro and Deva packing boxes, resulting in a 21% gain in transport efficiency. This small detail makes it possible to reduce export volumes, and thus the fuel consumption required to transport products to end customers.
For these same models, the corrugated cardboard tubes used to protect the shape of the 3D straps during transport have been replaced by inflatable biodegradable polyethylene tubes. Taken together, these modifications save around 3,500 kg of cardboard per year.
And when a backpack does break down, even after many years of loyal service, Gregory Mountain Products makes every effort to repair rather than replace it, thanks to a sophisticated treatment and repair center. This ensures that their products last as long as possible.
Finally, to conclude these examples of initiatives launched by Gregory Mountain Products, we can mention their membership of the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA). This association raises funds for the preservation of wilderness and ecosystems for future generations.

Technologies used
So what makes Gregory Mountain Products so famous? One of the reasons is the different technologies used in their backpacks.
Here is a selection of some of the technologies developed by Gregory Mountain Products.
Free Float System :
This technology consists of a ventilated back panel that allows you to adjust the length of your back. The Free Float System also allows the waistbelt to pivot and flex with the body's natural movements. The result is a simplified, comfortable and lightweight carrying system.
Trail Flex Suspension:
This suspension system offers the option of adjusting the length of the back as well as a double adjustment system for the lumbar belt. The ventilated back panel ensures optimum air circulation for enhanced comfort. Finally, the integrated frame is light, stable and transfers the load very well to the lumbar belt for better load distribution between the shoulders and hips.
Response A3:
The Response A3 suspension system adapts perfectly to your body shape and allows the waist belt and straps to rotate independently with each of your movements, providing greater stability and saving energy. The 3D AIR foam and ventilated back panel help wick away moisture and dry quickly, increasing comfort.
Finally, the aluminium frame further enhances stability and transfers the weight of the pack to the lower centre of your back and hip belt to prevent deformation and provide a stable, balanced carry.
