Salomon S/LAB SHIFT and Atomic SHIFT bindings available

Introduced by Salomon last winter, the S/LAB SHIFT claims to revolutionize freeride bindings. And it's not untrue... The principle behind this binding is to combine the performance of an alpine binding with the efficiency of an insert binding (Low Tech system).

The undeniable advantages over low-tech fasteners are :

Downhill performance:

- better transmission of forces: instead of just holding on to the inserts, the shoe is held in fins with a rigidity equivalent to Salomon's STH2
- high shock absorption: lateral elasticity is 47 m, giving the shoe a high capacity for deformation.
- an adjustable AFD plate that allows the descent to be used with all types of ski touring or alpine boots.
- adjustable hardness from 6 to 13 DIn. Enough to satisfy virtually any weight and type of skier

Climbing ability:

The inset toe-in allows a wide range of movement on ascents and very easy donning. However, don't expect to take part in the Pierra Menta with these bindings, as they'll be far too heavy. Up to 1000 m of vertical drop, the extra weight is acceptable. More than enough to catch the good combe beyond the ski area.

The Salomon S/LAB SHIFT and the Atomic SHIFT are identical except for the color. Blue for Salomon and white for Atomic.
