A little getaway in the Ardennes? Ride the Monthermé loop in the north of the Grand-Est!
This week, we're back in the North-East of France for a pleasant but challenging hike, to be enjoyed with family and friends! During your short 2.5-hour journey, you'll have access to numerous viewpoints over the Meuse river, and a wide variety of landscapes. You'll enjoy passing through forests, along waterways and through towns. To better appreciate the surroundings, take your binoculars with you! For a pleasant hike, be sure to bring good hiking shoes.

Route :
On arrival in Monthermé, you can park in the Tourist Office parking lot. Turn right onto Rue du Docteur Lemaire, then continue along Rue Voltaire. You'll pass the fire station and then the secondary school. Just after the cemetery, turn left into Rue de l'égalité. After climbing this street, you'll come to the main road, Rue Monseigneur Bihery, which you'll cross. Join the small path opposite and climb up between the houses. Then take a left-hand path through the woods to an inn. Turn left off the road, then left again onto the Chemin des Crêtes. Follow the white and red GR®12Csigns. A short detour to the left leads to a view of the Roche à Sept Heures. Return to the Chemin des Crêtes, where you can take a number of detours around the surrounding lookouts. Follow the signs past the last viewpoint, then through oak trees to the next crossroads. Turn left downhill towards the fir trees. Once you reach the track, turn left twice to reach the banks of the Meuse. Follow the river until you pass the Post Office, then turn left again to reach the Tourist Office parking lot.
