Premier Markstein Ski Touring
The Sainte Marie aux Mines ski club, in association with the Markstein resort and Speck-Sports, are launching the1st Markstein Ski Touring.
The Markstein Ski Touring is an event dedicated to ski touring that will take place on part of the Markstein ski area at night on Friday 14 January 2022.
Registration is open until 13 January 2022 - 12 noon. No on-site registrations will be accepted.
This event is divided into two parts. A competition section, open to both licence-holders and non-licence-holders, and a discovery ride section.
Information: a health pass is required to take part in this event.
Ski mountaineering competition
The ski mountaineering competition, organised by the Sainte Marie aux Mines ski club, takes in the Markstein alpine ski runs and has a vertical drop of around 620M. This competition is open to U16s and above. Mass start at 7.30pm.
You've always dreamed of racing over the Grand Mont with Kilian Jornet in your rear-view mirror. You'll even have time to stop off at "il dottore de la médecine" for a glass of grappa before heading off to victory and a kiss from Madame Blanc. Viva la Pierra Menta.
Before all that, it's a good idea to start with something easy, just to get into the swing of things and put a bit of pressure on the manoeuvres.
The Markstein Ski Touring is perfect for you! The slopes are technically accessible to all, with the pressure of a time trial and friends. The ideal ski mountaineering race to start your season or just to get started.
This race is open to FFME and CAF licence holders, as well as to non-licence holders with a medical certificate and a daily insurance policy taken out at the time of registration. For minors, parental authorisation is required.
If the challenge and the competition whet your appetite, you'll have the chance to feast on a delicious tartiflette followed by a blueberry tart!
The price of the Markstein Ski Touring race, including the meal, is €20 (excluding drinks and any insurance).
Discovery hike
The discovery hike also takes in the Markstein alpine ski runs. The route is signposted, untimed and unaccompanied. Group departure at 7.40pm.
What you love about effort is undeniably comfort. You just want to work up an appetite, with 200M of positive vertical drop on a marked course.
The descents are made on the Markstein's blue alpine ski runs, with no great technical difficulties. What's more, it's much more fun at night! You'll even see guys who think they're Kilian Jornet, on the verge of asphyxiation, drooling on their ski pumps and wondering what the hell they're doing there.
After the ride, it's time for a meal at Le Tremplin (tartiflette + tarte à la myrtille). The price of 20€ includes the meal (excluding drinks). You can rent your equipment at Speck-Sports in Bitschwiller!
