Looking for a hike in Lorraine?
The sentier des Roches lies on the natural border between Alsace and Lorraine. It's a technical trail, but the danger is limited to certain vertiginous sections, all protected by handrails. The rest of the trail is relatively accessible provided you have good hiking boots. Walking poles can be useful but should be stowed in a rucksack to free your hands in technical areas. This hike will give you access to some wild and splendid views, so it is advisable to avoid weekends and/or to set off early in the morning to avoid the crowds on this very busy trail. You should also avoid hiking on rainy days, and in any case, do not bring your children or pets with you. Once you have descended the sentier des Roches, you can either turn around and walk back up or make a loop via the three ovens before returning to la Schlucht . Experienced walkers can also extend the loop by passing theAuberge du Frankenthal and then taking the Falimont path back up to the Hohneck.
