Elementerre: the brand’s origins and history

Elementerre is a brand created and distributed by SIEL, a family-owned company based in Cugnaux, in the suburbs of Toulouse. SIEL’s history dates back to 1979, when the company began specializing in hiking boots and après-ski footwear, building on a tradition of shoe retailing that dates back to 1935.

The Elementerre® brand was registered in 1999. It has evolved gradually: its first collection of hiking backpacks and accessories in 2004, its first collection of camping accessories in 2012, and its first collection of mountain clothing in 2023. Today, Elementerre is distributed in France, Spain, Italy, and Andorra.

The name Elementerre combines the two fundamental elements of outdoor adventure: the earth, the hiker’s playground, and the natural elements they encounter. A signature that perfectly sums up the brand’s philosophy: heading out into nature with the right gear.

Sustainability is a top priority at Elementerre, which is taking action on several fronts:

Since 2020, the brand has been a member of the 1% for the Planet program: 1% of annual revenue is donated to environmental organizations, including the Eau, Neige et Glace Foundation and the Kilian Jornet Foundation.

When it comes to materials, Elementerre prioritizes Oeko-Tex certified products, which guarantee the absence of harmful substances. Since 2023, the brand has also incorporated recycled and eco-friendly fabrics, including REPREVE®. Plastic packaging is gradually being replaced with recyclable boxes, including for shoe boxes. Finally, 80% of the packaging received is reused for shipments.

All products are manufactured in Asia by BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative)-certified partner factories committed to social and environmental initiatives.
