DIEZZ: the brand’s origins and history

DIEZZ was founded in 1999 in the French Alps, in Saint-Jorioz on the shores of Lake Annecy (Haute-Savoie), by Serge Benguigui. The company emerged from GB Diffusion, a winter sports accessories distribution company founded in 1996. From the very beginning, the mission was clear: to expand the market for helmets and body protection beyond skiing.

In 2020, following the death of its founder, the brand was taken over by Sandra and François-Régis Arbet, a couple of Savoyard entrepreneurs deeply rooted in the mountain world. Under their leadership, DIEZZ is entering a new era: product diversification, sustainable development, and the modernization of the brand identity.

Product Development and Innovations at DIEZZ

DIEZZ’s technical history is marked by innovations in visor helmets. In 2007, the brand launched its first ski helmet equipped with a visor featuring a standard protective coating. In 2015, it developed a proprietary mold for an integrated visor, the first of its kind.

The year 2016 marked a turning point with the launch of ActivLux® photochromic technology, co-developed with partner suppliers. These Category 1-3 lenses automatically adapt to changes in light. In 2017, DIEZZ expanded this technology to a full range of photochromic ski goggles.

In 2021, the brand introduced 2AC (Anatomic Absorption Choc) technology: a flexible material that, when subjected to a violent impact, stiffens its molecules in a matter of milliseconds to form a resistant protective structure.

In 2023, DIEZZ took another step forward by launching the Major helmet, the first ski helmet manufactured in France to feature MDS (Multi Dissipation Shocks) technology. Designed to dissipate impact energy and reduce the risk of concussions, this internal “multi-nodule” structure improves both impact absorption and ventilation.

Products offered by the DIEZZ brand

DIEZZ offers a range of protective gear for winter sports and active lifestyles.

The flagship model of the ski range remains the Major helmet, made in France, EN1077 certified, equipped with MDS technology and an ActivLux® photochromic visor (category 1-3). The majority of DIEZZ helmets and visors are manufactured in Italy; 55% of ski helmets are produced in Europe.

DIEZZ’scommitment to environmental responsibility

DIEZZ has implemented a CSR strategy structured around three pillars: recycling, relocating production, and extending product lifespans.

In terms of recycling, the brand launched the Recy-Casques program in 2024, France’s first initiative for the collection and recycling of end-of-life ski helmets, in partnership with Excoffier Recyclage. The stated goal is to achieve 95% recycled plastics and bio-based materials (hemp) in helmet manufacturing by 2027, with a 30% reduction in the carbon footprint (CO₂ eq).

In terms of production, the Major helmet is the first ski helmet manufactured entirely in France, with the aim of reducing transportation and bringing jobs back to the country.

Finally, regarding product lifespan, DIEZZ offers replacement parts for all its products and maintains a buffer stock of components to ensure repairs for approximately 10 years.
