Ski touring poles

Ski touring poles: stability and comfort in the mountains

Ski touring poles are an essential element for any skier wishing to explore the mountains safely and efficiently. Designed to provide optimum support on ascents, descents and traverses, these poles guarantee stability and comfort on the varied and rugged terrain encountered when ski touring.

Key features of ski touring poles

Ski touring poles are characterised by their lightness, strength and ability to adapt to different slopes and snow conditions. They are often adjustable in length, making them easy to adjust on ascents and descents. Here are some of the key points to bear in mind when making your purchase:

• Lightweight, robust materials: Aluminium or carbon for minimum weight without compromising durability.
• Height adjustment: A reliable locking system that can be length-adjusted to suit the terrain, particularly on steep climbs or technical descents.
• Ergonomic handles: Comfortable, non-slip grips for a secure hold, even when wearing gloves. Some models also offer extensions to vary the grip.
• Interchangeable washers: Ideal for adapting your poles to different snow conditions, whether you're on deep powder or harder snow.

Why choose ski touring poles?

Ski touring poles do more than just provide support. They improve your balance, make traverses easier and reduce muscle fatigue on long, demanding climbs. Telescopic models can also be easily stowed away in your rucksack during descents or when not needed. By choosing poles that are adapted to your needs, you can optimise your comfort and performance on snowy trails.

Our advice on choosing the right ski touring poles

To choose the poles that are right for you, make sure you take into account your height, the type of terrain you cover most often and the season in which you practice. Carbon poles are ideal for skiers looking for lightness, while aluminium poles are more robust in difficult conditions. Don't forget to check the locking system, which is essential for quick and secure adjustments in the great outdoors.
