The POC Skull Dura X MIPS is a unisex ski helmet designed for alpine racing, intended for demanding skiers who compete in race conditions or ski at high speeds. Its FIS RH 2013 certification makes it approved for racing events, while the integration of MIPS Integra technology positions it as a logical choice for those seeking enhanced protection against rotational impacts. Developed using the POC Whole Helmet concept, it combines structural strength with a precise fit on the head.

The Skull Dura X MIPS meets the demands of alpine racing

The polycarbonate (PC) and ABS shell offers high rigidity suited to the impacts encountered in competition, without making the helmet excessively heavy; it weighs approximately 750 g in size M/L. The EPP (expanded polypropylene) liner is designed to absorb multiple impacts, meaning it retains its protective properties after an initial impact—a particularly important feature in a racing context. These certifications cover the EN 1077:2007 Class B and ASTM F 2040-18 standards, ensuring compliance with current international standards.

MIPS Integra technology to reduce rotational forces

The MIPS Integra system is integrated directly into the helmet’s structure, with no visible intermediate layer. Its role is to allow slight slippage between the head and the shell during an oblique impact, thereby reducing the rotational forces transmitted to the brain. This technology does not eliminate the risk of injury but helps limit its effects in impact scenarios common to alpine skiing. POC’s proprietary Integra approach incorporates this feature without compromising the helmet’s overall profile or adding weight to its construction.

Fit and Convenience for Competitive Skiers

The Race Lock system allows for precise adjustment of the fit during races, designed to remain stable even when worn under full protective gear. The Fidlock buckle ensures a secure and quick magnetic closure, which is useful when getting geared up in the starting area. Quick-release ear pads make it easy to adjust the fit between runs, while the acoustic chambers preserve awareness of the surrounding environment. A built-in clip allows a ski goggle to be attached directly to the helmet, and the helmet is compatible with the POC Maxilla Breakaway chin guard (sold separately) for disciplines requiring additional facial protection.

The Skull Dura X MIPS is available in three size ranges, from 51 to 62 cm, in Hydrogen White and Fluorescent Orange—colors characteristic of high-visibility racing gear.
