The Petzl RIDE ice axe, designed for ski touring and freeriding

The unisex Petzl RIDE ice axe is designed for ski touring and freeride enthusiasts looking for a compact, ultra-lightweight ice axe. Its 45 cm length and 240 g weight make it easy to carry on mountain outings. Its design combines a refined steel blade with a curved shaft featuring a machined grip, specifically engineered for winter mountaineering.

A lightweight design engineered to minimize bulk

The Petzl RIDE ice axe features a short, lightweight structure designed for ski touring. The 7075 aluminum shaft and hardened steel blade contribute to a total weight of 240 g, meeting the need for gear that’s easy to carry during strenuous activity. Its 45 cm length reinforces this compact design, making it easy to keep the ice axe discreetly stowed in a pack or along the route.

A contoured shaft and a refined blade for precise use

The contoured shaft with a machined grip provides a secure hold, while the blade—tapered to 3 mm at the tip —defines the ice axe’s profile. The beveled tip facilitates storage, a practical feature for minimizing bulk during transport. The result is a tool designed to remain simple in construction while meeting the demands of ski touring and freeriding.

A Petzl RIDE ice axe compatible with dedicated accessories

The Petzl RIDE ice axe is compatible with the PICK AND SPIKE PROTECTION and the LINKIN wrist strap, allowing it to be paired with complementary accessories already offered by the brand. The product also holds CE and UIAA certifications, two technical benchmarks that help identify an ice axe compliant with stated requirements.
