The term comes from the English words "boot" and "fitting." Boot fitting allows you to perfectly adjust the boot to your foot, rather than the other way around. No more blisters, pressure points, or pain of any kind.
How do you ensure a perfect fit for a mass-produced shoe?
But then, how can you achieve a perfect fit with a mass-produced boot?
Every foot is unique, unlike standardized ski shells. Fortunately, there are several techniques that can be used to customize your boot:
- Thermoforming the liner to reduce pressure points.
- Modifying the shell when the original shape is not suitable.
- Adding custom insoles to effectively support the arch of the foot and correct any remaining discomfort.
Precise analysis using the Vandra 3D scanner
Before making any modifications, it is essential to know the exact morphology of your foot.
Speck-Sports offers you a personalized analysis using Bootdoc's VANDRA 3D Scanner.
Developed in collaboration with Swedish start-up Volumental, this latest-generation scanner sets new standards in 3D visualization. Thanks to its four ultra-sophisticated ultrasound cameras, both of your feet are measured individually in just a few seconds.
The scanner records:
- the length and width of the foot,
- the arch of the foot,
- the height of the instep,
- and many other essential data points to identify the most suitable shoe.
All you have to do is step onto the platform: no need to change your socks or wear any special equipment.
The Ultracam: precise adjustment of your shell
Even after a complete analysis, a boot may still need some additional adjustments. That's where the Ultracam Up Basic comes in, the professional Bootdoc tool designed to make precise adjustments to shells.
Thanks to a controlled heating system, the Ultracam softens the boot material in order to:
- create more space in sensitive areas,
- eliminate pressure points,
- improve the overall fit of the foot.
Once the shape has been adjusted, compressed air cooling restores the shell to its original rigidity.
To reduce your waiting time, Speck-Sports has equipped itself with a second widening arm to ensure smooth service even during busy periods.
Custom insoles: the finishing touch
To perfect the fit, our technicians can also offer you custom insoles, chosen based on the precise data obtained from the scanner.
These not only improve comfort, but also performance, stability, and safety.

That's why a precise fit is essential, whether you're a beginner, an enthusiastic amateur, or a demanding expert.
Thermoforming: a custom fit for maximum comfort
To further customize your ski boots, Speck-Sports offers various thermoforming techniques, available on many compatible models (e.g., Salomon, Atomic, Fischer, Head, K2, etc.). These operations, performed in-store and subject to additional fees, ensure a precise and lasting fit.
Shell thermoforming – approximately 45 minutes
On boots equipped with thermoformable shells, the material is heated and then molded to perfectly fit the shape of your foot. This targeted adaptation allows you to:
- reduce pressure points,
- increase volume in sensitive areas,
- improve overall support without compromising performance.
Once the shell has been heated, your technician will adjust the necessary areas before cooling and setting the new shape.
Thermoforming of the liner – approximately 30 minutes
The inner liner can also be thermoformed to optimize:
- comfort,
- foot wrap,
- the precision of the fit in the boot.
This step often eliminates friction and discomfort experienced during the first few outings.
ICP & IPS: targeted solutions for sensitive areas
Are you still experiencing pain despite traditional adjustments? Speck-Sports offers two complementary techniques that can be applied to almost all liners.
ICP – Bootie cuts
The ICP method involves making localized cuts in the liner to relieve pressure on painful areas: malleoli, toes, instep, etc.
It allows for extremely precise adaptation, ideal for sensitive or atypical feet.
IPS – Foam padding and addition
The IPS technique aims to improve support and comfort by adjusting the inside of the liner.
Our technicians add support foam to:
- improve stability,
- distribute pressure,
- relieve pressure points by creating targeted offset.
