POC designed the Arcus for skiers and snowboarders looking for a unisex helmet geared toward freeride and backcountry riding, capable of handling both high speeds and the unpredictable challenges of off-piste terrain. Two features immediately set it apart: an integrated rotational impact protection system and a precise cable-adjustment system. The result is a versatile helmet designed for both performance and comfort during long sessions.
Arcus Protection and Construction: A Performance-Oriented Hybrid Design
The Arcus’s shell features a hybrid construction combining an ABS lower section with a molded polycarbonate (PC) upper shell—two complementary materials that blend impact resistance with structural lightness. Beneath this, an EPS liner absorbs impact energy. The helmet features the MIPS® Air Node, a rotational impact protection system described by the manufacturer as the lightest in the MIPS lineup, covered with an Alcantara® lining for comfortable contact with the head. This feature does not eliminate the risk associated with rotational impacts, but it is designed to reduce the effects transmitted to the brain. The Arcus is certified to ASTM 2040, EN 1077B, and ISO 18527-1—three industry-standard certifications for snow sports helmets.
A custom fit for a secure hold in all conditions
The BOA® Fit System allows you to adjust the helmet liner by turning a dial, ensuring even pressure distribution around the skull and eliminating localized pressure points. This precise fit is particularly valuable for ski touring or freeriding, where head movements are frequent and varied. The Fidlock® chin strap buckle opens and closes with a magnetic release, making it easy to use even while wearing gloves. The ear pads are removable, allowing you to adapt the helmet to the day’s temperature conditions.
Thermal Management and Goggle Compatibility
The Arcus’s ventilation is adjustable to three levels via a magnetic control mechanism, allowing you to adapt the airflow to the intensity of your activity and the outside temperature. Deep ventilation channels promote moisture evaporation, while dedicated mask vents limit fog buildup—a practical feature for intense days on the slopes. A flexible goggle clip is integrated into the back of the helmet, and an extension at the nape of the neck provides additional coverage for this often-exposed area.
- Lightweight depending on size: 500 g in XS/S, 550 g in M/L, and 600 g in XL/XXL to reduce neck strain on long runs.
- Neck extension: provides enhanced protection in an area frequently exposed to cold and impacts.
- Flexible goggle clip: holds the goggles in place at the back of the helmet without restricting movement.
- Type : Unisex
