Hanwag is a German company founded in 1921 by Hans Wagner. The founder's father and grandfather were shoemakers, so it was nocoincidence thatHans Wagner decided to continue the family tradition by opening his own shoe manufacturing company.

The brand's history began with its creation, when Hans Wagner decided to open his own company to fulfill his vision of shoe manufacturing. In the early days of the brand, it only manufactured custom-made shoes, using traditional methods, as was customary among shoemakers at the time.
