The Great Bach Packing and Construction Company was founded in Kilkenny.
The first bags manufactured by the company's seven employees were external frame bags.
In the 1980s, the BACH brand contributed to innovation in the field of backpacks. The brand created a backpack with an adjustable internal frame. This system was called Orthoflex and was patented for many years.
After going bankrupt in the late 1980s, Swiss investors took over the company, its stock, and its workers, renaming it Transbach.
In the years that followed, the company struggled to survive.
Then, with the advent of the internet, the company finally took off.
Today, the brand is present worldwide, particularly in Japan.
