Oakley was founded in 1975 by Jim Jannard. In the early days, the brand didn't create eyewear but... motorbike handlebar grips. In 1984, Oakley moved into optics, creating the first pair of "O-Frame" motorcycle glasses. Subsequently, the brand continued to develop, offering its eyewear mainly to sportsmen and women (such as Greg Lemond, for example), before diversifying into sunglasses and eyewear for the general public.
