It was in 1888, in Morez, in the heart of the French eyewear valley, that a man from the Jura region named Jules Baud decided to set up his own optical eyewear company with one watchword: INNOVATE!

It was at the beginning of the 20th century, after crystal-makers in Chamonix asked him to create a product to protect their eyes during their research, that Jules Baud invented the first "Cristallier" eyewear . This range was Julbo' s starting point in sunglasses, with in particular the"Glacier" sunglasses launched in 1950 and still in use today.
