  • Boots

    Alpine skitouring boots

    You wish to buy a pair of boots for skitouring. These are quite different from alpine ski boots. They have a walking system that allows the collar to be released from the shoe for greater ease when climbing. The sole is thicker and non-slip to walk in the snow.

    Be careful, make sure you have the inserts on the shoes so that they can be adapted with the bindings s originally developed by Dynafit but which are now becoming widespread. More practical and lighter, they will gradually replace the fasteners with a central bar between the front and rear.

  • Skins

    The choice of skins is essential in your ski touring equipment.
    There are two types of skins:
    Traditional skins with glue that are maintained by periodically changing the glue
    The glue-free skins that are cleaned by washing them with soapy water.
    Each has its advantages and disadvantages. If you have any doubts, contact a Speck-sports technician to discuss them.
    The skins are available in a format already adapted to the model of your skis or to be resized. Our technicians can do it for you.
    Pay attention to the width of your skis when choosing your skins.
    The skin hairs can be made of synthetic material for more resistance, mohair for more gliding, or a mix of both. Don't forget to buy a spray to prevent the really painful kicking phenomenon.

  • Bindings

    These are quite different from alpine ski bindings.

    There are now two systems of ski touring bindings.

    Pin bindings: a patent developed by Dynafit that is now becoming the standard. They are lighter and more reliable than central bar models. We have gradually seen the arrival of bindings with pinss that meet EC safety standards for release, such as downhill ski bindings.

    Central arm bindings are still used for their price and robustness.

    Hybrid bindings with pins in the front and traditional heel pads in the back are also available for free touring enthusiasts.
